The best thing about writing a guide like this one is there is really no right or wrong way to paint the white hand on the Uruk Hai.

When painting the white hand try not to over think it.  You don't need to be particularly neat after all its a white hand print splattered on an uruks face,

First things first.  I use a mixture of Glaze Medium and Vallejo Model Colour Ivory.  Any off white colour will work fine.  I find the off white colours tend to work better than pure white which is often too stark.

The mix I use is made of one drop of the VMC Ivory with 4 drops of medium added.  Mix the two together thoroughly.  The medium will keep the paint thin allowing the uruks skin to show through in places on your handprint design.

The same three steps have been followed in the same order for the following 5 Uruk captains.

  1.  Choose where you want the handprint to be and paint in the palm of the hand.  As you are painting with diluted paint make sure you knock the excess paint off the end of your brush before touching the model or the paint will pool where you don't want it to.

  2. Paint the thumb starting from the bottom of the palm

  3. Paint in the fingers starting from the Index finger and working your way accross.  Think about where the most pressure would be applied when pressing your hand against something.  The fingertips can be made slightly wider than the rest of the finger.  You don't need to be particularly neat just make sure not to join 2 fingers together.

Step 3 : Fingers

The second uruk captain was done using the same three steps in the same order.  I find it easier to turn the model so that it is in a position where the fingers of the handprint will be pointing upwards so in this case i was looking at the model upside down when i painted the handprint.

Step 1 : Palm

Step 2 : Thumb

Step 3 : Fingers

On Uruk number 3 i wanted the handprint again to be upside down so i turned the model on its head to paint it.

Step 1 : Palm.

Step 2 : Thumb.

Step 3 : Fingers

The handprint can be placed anywhere.  This time I chose to start the palm surrounding the mouth.

Step 1 : Palm

Step 2 : Thumb

Step 3 : Fingers

Last one slightly angled accross the face.  The model was turned again to the appropriate position so that the fingers would be pointing upwards.

I hope the guide helps you out and remember Don't overthink it!
